Planting wheat in Windmill Gardens

Image: Nick Weedon

The Parks Group of the Friends of Windmill Gardens is an active team of volunteers who work hard throughout the year to help keep the park looking its best.

This year their activities will include:

  • digging up the area for growing wheat and planting the seeds

  • planting a host of soft fruit bushes

  • planning preserve making workshops with our crop of soft fruit

  • weeding the much overgrown but lovely medicinal herb garden and adding weed suppressant fabric and bark

  • preparing the meadow flower area for planting in the autumn

  • working towards achieving  a Green Flag Community Award.

On Saturday 18 April the group will be planting wheat in Windmill Gardens, 2-4pm.  Everyone is welcome to join in - tools and refreshments will be provided.
