Brixton Windmill on Lambeth Map

Image: Map print by Mike Hall

Mike Hall is a freelance illustrator and graphic artist based in London.

Since graduating from the University of Westminster in 2008, he has done illustrations for educational and children’s book publishers, earning commissions from Macmillan, Oxford University Press and Dorling Kindersley.

Mike specialises in portraiture, character studies from real life, urban landscapes, architectural views and map art.

He has produced a series of maps of London boroughs - and the Lambeth map includes a drawing of Brixton Windmill.

Mike says: "With regards to Brixton Windmill, its existence is an interesting bit of trivia I have been aware of for some time now, as I have a keen interest in the general history of London and its suburbs. I design each of my maps with this history in mind, and I like to feature a couple of interesting local buildings from the local area in their decoration. I don't live in Brixton myself but I do live in south London, over near Lewisham."

The Lambeth map is available on Etsy, price £30.
